About Shattered
Shattered is a historical drama that explores the impact of the Nazi regime on two close friends living in the Netherlands — Ilse, a young Jewish woman, and Lex, a gay man. When both are torn from their lives and sent to camps, their survival becomes a story of strength and resilience. After the war, they reunite, but while Lex longs to move on, Ilse is driven by a need for justice — and revenge.

Visual Style
The feature film will be in black and white. This creative choice of a limited colour palette will allow us to tell a dramatic story with light, shade, and shadows. Influences on the film are Schindler's List (1993) meets Bent (1997).
The Filmmakers
The story of Shattered originates from the short film of the same name. Written by Brogan Waller-Parkinson and directed by Teresa Moorhead, the short was made in 2020 and became the pair's graduation project for their BA Honours degree in Filmmaking. The film won multiple awards at a variety of international film festivals, and upon its public online release in 2021, they discussed their ambitions to make a feature film as they are both passionate about the subject.
WRITER - Brogan penned the first draft of Shattered at only 19, and as commented on in the Yorkshire Evening Post, 'she was keen to make a story embedded into that dark chapter in history and highlight people's experiences.'
DIRECTOR - Teresa developed a passion for directing at film school and has made eight short films. Reading the script for Shattered triggered personal memories of when she went into hiding as a child in Belfast after being forced from her home. This unique perspective gave her an understanding of Ilse’s thoughts and feelings in such restrained and stressful circumstances.
ASSOCIATE WRITER - Christian Ballesta has written serval scripts centring around queer people. As a queer writer, he has added an authentic voice to Lex.
